We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality care to our patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting the orthodontist during procedures, documenting medical information, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
Duties:
- Assist the orthodontist during procedures, including preparing the treatment area and sterilizing instruments
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the orthodontist
- Perform preliminary examinations and record medical history of patients
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and provide post-treatment care instructions
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic dental record systems
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
- Follow aseptic techniques to prevent the spread of infection
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
- Collaborate with other dental professionals to provide comprehensive care
Skills:
- Proficient in medical documentation and maintaining accurate records
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Experience working with pediatric patients is preferred
- Competent in taking dental radiographs (X-rays) and interpreting results
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment
- Understanding of dental terminology related to orthodontics
- Experience using electronic medical record systems, such as Dolphin, is a plus
